Description

A very attractive original 1978 UK limited-edition yellow-vinyl pressing of David Bowie – Stage, issued by RCA Victor as PL 02913(2). This copy carries the early A-2E / B-1 / C-1 / D-1 matrix configuration, a documented UK matrix combination for the original 1978 issue. Contemporary UK copies were issued both on standard black vinyl and, in limited quantities, on distinctive translucent yellow vinyl. Recorded during Bowie’s 1978 world tour, Stage captures performances from concerts in Philadelphia, Providence and Boston and features a formidable touring band including Adrian Belew, Carlos Alomar, George Murray, Dennis Davis, Roger Powell, Sean Mayes and Simon House. The recordings were produced by David Bowie and Tony Visconti. The track selection spans Bowie’s career from the Ziggy Stardust period through Station To Station and into the experimental Berlin-era material from Low and “Heroes”. Highlights include Ziggy Stardust, Five Years, Station To Station, Fame, Warszawa, Breaking Glass, “Heroes” and Beauty And The Beast. The original yellow-vinyl edition was normally identified by a promotional sticker on the front of the otherwise similar laminated gatefold sleeve. That sticker is not present on this copy, and this is clearly disclosed in the listing. The records themselves are the correct original yellow-vinyl issue.

Condition

Sleeve: VG+
The original laminated gatefold sleeve remains in very good collector condition with general signs of previous storage and handling consistent with its age. The photography and artwork remain strong, with the gatefold construction intact and presentable. There is some light edge, corner and laminate-related wear appropriate to the VG+ grade. Please note that the original limited-edition yellow-vinyl sticker is no longer present on the front sleeve.

Vinyl: VG++
Both yellow-vinyl records retain an excellent glossy appearance with only light evidence of previous handling or play. Any visible marks are minor and superficial, placing the records comfortably above standard VG+ and just short of EX. The early A-2E / B-1 / C-1 / D-1 matrices remain clearly visible in the runouts. Graded VG++.

Please study all photographs carefully as they form part of the description and condition assessment.
