Description

An excellent original 1983 Dutch pressing of Black Sabbath – Live Evil, issued by Vertigo Records as a double-LP set under catalogue number 6650 009. This edition features the distinctive Vertigo spaceship labels, with individual catalogue numbers 6302 202 and 6302 203 across the two records. All four sides carry the original 1983 stamped matrix inscriptions, identifying this early European edition. The album is housed in its original gatefold sleeve, featuring the extraordinary surrealist artwork depicting visual interpretations of classic Black Sabbath songs. Live Evil documents Black Sabbath during the celebrated Ronnie James Dio era, capturing the band performing material from both their early Ozzy Osbourne catalogue and their subsequent albums Heaven And Hell and Mob Rules. Recorded during the band's 1982 American tour, the performances feature Ronnie James Dio on vocals, Tony Iommi on guitar, Geezer Butler on bass and Vinny Appice on drums. The recordings were captured in Seattle, San Antonio and Dallas, with the album mixed at the Record Plant in Los Angeles. The double album includes outstanding live performances of Neon Knights, N.I.B., Children Of The Sea, Black Sabbath, War Pigs, Iron Man, The Mob Rules and Heaven And Hell. Dio's powerful vocal interpretations of the band's early material, combined with Iommi's unmistakable guitar work, make this a fascinating document of one of Black Sabbath's most important lineups. The extended performance of Heaven And Hell is a particular highlight, showcasing the band's enormous live sound and dramatic arrangements. An excellent original European copy, with an attractive VG++ gatefold sleeve and both records grading EX.
